EVERY DOLLAR COUNTS

The goal of the Kemper Human Rights Education Foundation is to motivate students to contribute to the effort to create a world where everyone’s human rights are realized.  Hence, 95% of every dollar you contribute goes toward awarding students who use their education, intelligence, and creativity to address human rights issues. KHREF measures its success by:

  1. The number of schools and students in the U.S. and other countries that participate in its human rights essay contest. In 2001, the first year of the contest, we received 30 essays all from Mamaroneck High School in New York. Last year (2017) we received 115 essays from students from 13 high schools in the U.S. and 34 essays from students in 11 high school from four other countries (The Czech Republic, Ghana, Iran, and South Africa).
  2. The quality of the essays it receives.
  3. The number of people who visit its web site, read the essays, and are inspired by them to join the struggle to promote human rights throughout the world.
